Assessment of Bio-Based Polyurethanes: Perspective on Applications and Bio-Degradation

چکیده

Among numerous synthetic macromolecules, polyurethane in its different forms has proven sheer dominance and established a reputation as reliable trusted material due to proficiency terms of superior properties, which include: high mechanical strength abrasion resistance, good durability, adhesion, thermal stability, excellent chemical weathering resistance. Synthetic materials are non-biodegradable, poisonous, use petrochemical-based raw materials, now depleting, leading surge production costs. Bio-based polyurethanes (PU) have been synthesized by researchers recent decades mostly overtaken PU challenges such solid pollution, economic effectiveness, availability materials. Enormous kinds available bio-renewable sources predecessors for the polyols isocyanates explored development “greener” materials; these bio-based significant potential be used future products, with partial or total replacement petroleum-based polyurethanes, increasing concern about environment, their relatively low cost biodegradability. This critical review concentrates on possibilities renewable gives clear perspective journey, utilization, advancements field polymers that arisen over last decade.
